WHAT WE DO

protecting_header

Providence House provides emergency shelter and quality crisis care to children newborn to ten years old - the most voiceless, vulnerable, and at-risk of abuse and neglect in every study on the subject.

Through our family preservation program children live with us from 24 hours up to 60 days (with a 90-day option in certain cases) until they are safely reunified with their own family or placed in other long-term care settings.  During placement, we offer every child free shelter, basic personal necessities, medical care, developmental and educational enrichment - and most of all - unconditional love.

And we know that even their brief time with us leaves an indelible impression on our children, and on us, years after they have left.

Like Samantha, now a young woman, who spent the first years of her life with us as an HIV positive infant until her mother died of AIDS.  After having the opportunity to be at Providence House, Samantha was able to be adopted into a family in our community.

And John, a young man who visited to deliver a toy fire truck as a Christmas present 13 years after he celebrated his fifth birthday with us and heard “I love you” for the very first time at the first birthday party he’d ever had.
