The Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations (OANO) sponsors the Excellence Award to
recognize the creativity, execution, achievement, and overall excellence of a specific
project or program completed by an Ohio nonprofit the previous year. Providence House’s
Parenting Education Program was selected as the 2008 Excellence Award winner in the
Northern Ohio - Large Budget category. Other finalists in the category included
Hospice of the Western Reserve and Community Assessment and Treatment Services. The
Providence House team was recognized for their outstanding efforts during a luncheon
at the Ohio Statehouse. The award-winning Parenting Education Program uniquely
combines parent visitation, education and case management services in order to
maximize participation and successful outcomes. The agency’s individualized,
private parent education program, visitation with weekly family meal times, peer
mentoring and streamlined case management were some of the elements that helped
Providence House rise to the top over 100 other submissions. For more information
on the award and lists of other finalists and winners, visit
