Providence House

Dominique utilized Providence House when she was diagnosed with Anemia and needed a blood transfusion.

Dominique utilized Providence House years ago when she was homeless with her older children and needed to secure housing. She was now diagnosed with Anemia and needed to utilize Providence House for her youngest children who are four and five while she went into the hospital for a blood transfusion. Providence House was able to provide shelter for her children for seven days while Dominique was in the hospital.

While Dominique’s children stayed at Providence House, she completed five phone based case management appointments during the service period where she updated the social worker on her health. She also spoke to her children over the phone daily. The children were seen by a Nurse Practitioner for a triage appointment during their stay and a letter was written for Dominique to request a referral to the Preschool Assessment Clinic for her four year old. The children also participated in music therapy provided by The Beck Center for the Arts and a reading program through the Cleveland Public Library.

After only seven days the children were reunited with their mother. Dominique was discharged from the hospital after completed a blood transfusion. She is currently involved in the 12-month aftercare program.
