Sarah lost all her family's identifying documents when she left her home due to domestic violence.
Sarah lost all her family's identifying documents when she left her home due to domestic violence. She prioritized her family's safety and left immediately with literally only the clothes on their backs. Providence House provided support for her four children while Sarah stayed in a women's shelter. During her stay, one of her primary goals was to get new identifying documents for her family. These documents are important for her two oldest daughter who need their birth certificates on file at their new school, for Sarah to drive legally and apply for benefits in Cuyahoga County, and most importantly, all five family members needed social security cards to complete her application for low-income housing. With a limited income, Sarah asked Providence House for support. Luckily, our agency has grant funding to provide support in obtaining birth certificates for approximately 13 individuals, and were able to help Sarah. We could support over 60 children and parents through this service if we had the resources available to do so.
